We had to find time to put all these gorgeous green hellebores into a scheme to share with you all. The hellebores came to us by chance and there were so many of them! New ceramic containers had just arrived in the store and turned out to be the perfect solution for showcasing the cut flowers. The steel pedestals with oak tops have been in the pipeline for a long while but happily just turned up in time for the days styling. The garden setting with the wooden bench in situ seemed like the perfect place to get started.
The grouping together of the four smaller containers instead of one larger one creates a strong, interesting and maybe slightly unfamiliar look as the pedestals are especially tall. The metal saucer beneath each container helps layer the scheme further. The idea of using four containers in this layout can be used in many situations and looks especially effective on a coffee table for example.
In the design, along with the green hellebores, there are a few galax leaves placed so they are all the way around the edge of the container but not forming a complete collar to give a more natural style, a few tangles of coral fern finish the composition nicely and the super fine leave are a wonderful contrast to the solid galax leaf.
At the base of the pedestal a large ceramic container in the same style as the small ones is filled with natural birch twigs and completed with some moss on the top, the middle picture below shows the birch tied in at the waist with a twist of ivy. Using the same style of container in this way is another example of layering within the same scheme, a pair of these containers could have been used and would have worked equally as well as a single one.
