An understated but grand entrance, what could be more perfect than being able work at this fabulous historic Derbyshire stone hall set in the Peak District. We were very lucky and eager to get going……..
The tall vine baskets were a nice starting point, its always our philosophy to try and use what resources we have at our disposal and these baskets were no exception. Slightly wonky, uneven and impossible to find a matching pair, but that is what makes natural materials and handmade products so fantastic. The narrow silhouette and unusual height make these baskets quite unique.

The materials we collected were from a mixture of sources, some blossom branches and rhododendron leaves from round a nearby mill pond, a few stems of an unruly bramble from a local garden and some wild asparagus which originates from the Mediterranean. It is a type of shrub, a little thorny and unpredictable but has a lovely wild habit and works well in schemes like this one.
We were really thrilled with how the design turned out and loved just the greenery and branches on their own. The different leaf shapes, the subtle shades of green, the scale and wildness was so good it made us not want to use any flowers at all…..

However, given we had brought along some super long creme French tulips it seemed a great shame not to use them. Tulips tend to have a mind of their own and this natural behaviour worked perfectly with the existing greenery and branches.

This scheme worked well and we were so pleased with how it turned out. The concept could easily be replicated at any entrance, for a wedding, special event, or even a dinner party.

Huge thank you to the owners and more information can be found at Strines community website.
